1. The Learning Process

  • 問自己"為什麼要學這個新技能?",這是最重要的一點,了解自己想學這個技能的原因後,可以幫助自己更專注,並持續的更久。

Deconstruct a Skill

  1. Break the skill in small tangible goals.
    • Start Backwards(Reverse Engineer)
    • 利用"心智圖"讓自己更好了解
  2. Sequence those goals
    • Start with the easiest ones!
  3. Eliminate unneccessaary goals and group them
    • How can I be good quickly?

2. Commitment

  • What can you do to ensure you practise everyday?

Plan your Day

  • Write everything you need to get done the next day
  • Block periods of time to do those things
  • BLock a period of time to practise and learn your new skill
  • Try to learn always in the same period of the day(option)

Reward Youself

Rewards = Pleasure

  • Create specific rewards each time you complete a goal(ex: watch a movie, have some snacks)

Punish Youself

Punishment = Pain

  • Eliminate something you love to do, if you don't complete a specific goal
  • Pay money each time you fail to accomplish your gloas(一次罰的錢不能少到無感,但也不能多到讓自己無法負荷,由每個人的經濟狀況決定)

  1. Decide how much time you want to spend learning a new skill
  2. Block 36 minutes and focus on lnly achieving a specific goal
  3. Have a break(5 minutes)
  4. Continue to work on your learning a new skill(依據一次學習要花多少時間來決定要不要繼續)

Pomodoro Advanced Technique(進階版)

  • Improve your techique by focusing in a task for more than 25 minutes
  • Experiment with different time intervals
  • Write in a paper all the distracting thoughts that came to your head during that focus session

4. Track your Progress

  • Keep a journal to write:
    1. The goals you accomplish each day
    2. Tje difficulties you're having
    3. Important things you learnt
    Keeping a journal to record your progress is a way to commit yourself!
